CELEBRATING ACHIEVEMENTS IN SCIENCE

For each of the past four years, we’ve created four short-subject films for The National Institutes of Health’s Orloff Award winners, honoring the researchers, scientists and clinicians who’ve made ground-breaking discoveries or significantly advanced therapeutics and treatments for various diseases.

When we began collaborating on these films, we envisioned reaching a broader, more diverse audience by approaching the subject matter in a less preceptorial fashion in favor of a documentary-style approach. This allowed us to present the material in a more relatable style while preserving the intellectual tone of the films. Additionally, we made more use of animation and design to bring to life and abbreviate complex explanations of processes and procedures. This entirely new way of celebrating these remarkable achievements in science paid off.

In 2019, the Dr. Lederman film below was awarded a Digital Health Awards Gold for Documentary, and the National Association of Government Contractors (NAGC) Blue Pencil and Gold Screen Awards for Documentary.
